LOCATION, SURFACE, AND RELIEFS OF NIGER
 
Niger forms a real link between North Africa and Black Africa. Completely enclosed inside the part the West of the Continent, it is cut by the twentieth degree of north latitude. Niger is one of the most warmly countries of the globe, the closest sea is 700 kilometres, in the bay of Guinea.
Its surface is 1 267 000 km2, twice of France.
The relief is monotonous in all the south part of the country where the height varies between 300 and 350 metres. The territory is essentially formed by trays which amount to the northeast towards Djado (120 000 km2 and between 800 to 1000 meters height), and in North, in Aïr, mountain massif summits reach 2000 meters.
Sahara, following regions, presents various types of relief with enter other " the erg ", these famous dunes of sands, and the "reg", the flat and rocky area. The most beautiful desert of the world, the Ténéré, occupies two thirds of the country and proposes relatively varied landscapes.
