PEOPLE OF NIGER

Hinge country, Niger welcomes on its territory, very different populations, black and the white, nomads and home-bodies. If every ethnic group keeps its cultural identity, the cohabitation takes place rather well. The home-bodies cultivate the south part of the country, whereas generally, the nomads make graze them crowds in the North. Since the aridity and the reduction of a part of the livestock, nomads also work the ground. The home-bodies, main part of the population, understand Songhaï and Zarma (or Djerma) on the West along the river, the Haoussa in the center and the Kanouri in the East. Some Gourmantché villages lines the Burkenese border.
