NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NIMAEY

The National Museum of Niger, in the heart of capital Niamey, presents a kaleidoscope of the country. It collects on its 24 hectares a complete outline of the culture of the country. Very interesting reconstruction of the various types of environments in countries: djerma, peul, touareg, haoussa, with their furniture, domestic objects, tools... Various pavilions, sometimes built and painted in the style haoussa, expose the most beautiful details of the patrimony of Niger: musical instruments, national dresses, prehistory, ethnographical collections and minéralographiques...

The variety of its original installations and its dynamics differentiate it from a classic museum. It results from a strangely alive cultural walk where reconstituted villages adjoin the puddle in hippopotamuses, herself(itself) close to the tree of Ténéré. This museum took its current shape under the inspiration of its first curator, Mr. Pablo Toucet.

Possibility of observing any sorts of artisans in the work: stony, wooden sculptor, weavers, jewelers, artisans of the leather and the possibility of buying the local production generally of beautiful quality.
